I wrote the words linked to this write up on the 9th of October, 2016, during my personal study time and put them in my thought folder. However, through the early hours of this morning, they were ringing in my spirit as loud as can get, and with clarity. I knew it was time to share these words with you. They have blessed me, and I am sure they will bless someone else today.

We cannot get carried away at the king’s table and all that is placed on it. We must exercise some self-control. The king’s meal can mean different things for different people. For some it is food and drink. For others it is partying. For some it is compulsive shopping. For some it is money, position, sex, loans, borrowing, cars, political power, etc.

In Proverbs 23:1-3 (TLB), this is what it says: “When dining with a rich man, be on your guard and don’t stuff yourself, though it all tastes so good; for he is trying to bribe you, and no good is going to come of his invitation.”

In order words, you must not have everything that looks pleasant to the eye. You must be disciplined enough to exercise restraint. Build an inner fortitude and strength to say “no” and rely on God’s help to stand by your decision. Don’t thwart your destiny with a morsel of the king’s dinner. The state of the king’s heart was clarified down the line in Proverbs 23:7-8

Everything you get from an excessive desire stemming from lack of discipline will soon be vomited. Friends of African politicians, please pay attention and learn from Daniel. He refused the king’s meat and was still the king’s choice!
